Improved access times, more space and lower warehousing costs with PVCU profile storage systems from HEGLA

The growing variety of window profiles, profile colours, materials, and glass units used have increased the pressure on warehousing and material provision in window manufacturing.

At the Fensterbau Frontale trade fair in Nuremberg, people are the focus for HEGLA and HEGLA boraident. The companies are presenting solutions at their booth that make work easier for employees, provide a high level of safety, and improve efficiency.

Exterior racks continue to be fitted as standard on vehicles with electric drives that are used to deliver and install glass, structural elements, and other extra-large items.

Vehicles that deliver windows, structural elements and glass require a high load capacity and large load volume. For a long time, it was unimaginable that the requirements for load capacity and range of electric vehicles could be reconciled for the commercial sector. But we are now seeing signs of a trend toward electromobility (e-mobility) – in the lightweight commercial vehicle market in particular.

Delivering windows, structural elements, and glass always poses a challenge for the installation and logistics team. It could be the weight, the oversize format or even the number of items involved that makes a delivery from the company premises to the construction site a complex task.

It’s usually the habitual, mundane or unremarkable procedures that take too much time or make life at work more difficult. This is the focus at the Fensterbau/Frontale trade fair, where visitors will come to be inspired and impressed by new solutions.

The HEGLA Group is once again investing in its Kretzschau site and developing its production space. The topping-out ceremony for the new HEGLA Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG building in Kretzschau took place on 29 August 2019. Around 70 employees took part in a lively event to celebrate the inauguration of the new production hall, which is located directly adjacent to the existing facility on Industriering. HEGLA succeeded in acquiring no less than 3200 m² of additional ground space to construct the facility, offering new capacity for the company’s mechanical engineering projects and the production of Halle/Saale-based HEGLA boraident’s systems.

Despite all the progress of digitalisation, at the end of every manufacturing process, the IG units, structural elements, or pieces of glass still have to be shipped, safely and efficiently, to their destination. And the options available for logistics are just as varied as the requirements for transporting these typically heavy, bulky goods. According to Managing Director Hans-Peter Löhner from HEGLA Fahrzeugbau, not too long ago vehicles in the sector were typically only equipped with an external rack: “Companies that require more flexibility, additional loading positions, and want to impress their customers with an optimally organised vehicle can use additional fittings to customise their delivery vehicle to their specific needs.”

Production processes are typically the first place companies think about when considering cost-saving potential and they often don’t look further. But a long-length storage system that is perfectly harmonised with the processes can help to increase any company’s flexibility and reduce costs.

You don’t need a mass market to be successful. A perfect example of this is HEGLA, the company with a centre of excellence for special vehicle attachments in Satteldorf (Schwäbisch Hall, Germany).
