The growing variety of window profiles, profile colours, materials, and glass units used have increased the pressure on warehousing and material provision in window manufacturing.

At the Fensterbau Frontale trade fair in Nuremberg, people are the focus for HEGLA and HEGLA boraident. The companies are presenting solutions at their booth that make work easier for employees, provide a high level of safety, and improve efficiency.

After more than 41 years at HEGLA Fahrzeugbau, the Managing Director of many years, Hans-Peter Löhner, has retired.

Whether it’s the transport of conventional glass or bulky/extra-large elements, securing loads properly and professionally for transport is the name of the game for glass specialists.

Come rain, snow or splash water, a rack tarpaulin cover is essential for ensuring that your high-quality glass stays dry and clean during shipping – especially in winter. Glass racks have low sills, which makes it easier for employees to position heavy or large glass panes and elements but also means that these elements are very close to the ground during transport. As a result, loads can be exposed to rain, splash water and damage from stones if they are not covered by a tarpaulin during transport.

Regardless of a new trade fair date, the vehicle special "Fensterbau Frontale-Edition" will be available from 18.3.2020.

Glass racks must have low sills for transport setups with maximum loading heights. They also make it easier for employees to position heavy and oversized glass and elements. Unjustly, as Hans-Peter Löhner, Managing Director of HEGLA Fahrzeugbau with locations in Satteldorf, Beverungen and Kretzschau, believes. “Whether it’s a drive to the post office in the morning and express service to a customer in the afternoon, small city vans offer a familiar size and flexible options for everyday use in comparison to considerably larger box-type trucks,” said Mr Löhner. Almost everyone has a licence for this type of vehicle and even in congested inner-city traffic, they are easy to drive.

A compact storage system can contribute to fast and flexible processing of customer requirements when it comes to window construction. Because with new profiles, more colours and different systems, it has become more challenging to meet all the needs of building developers promptly and to their complete satisfaction. Not only have demands on the visual properties of windows increased, but double-insulating glass, triple-insulating glass and the increasing share held by laminated glass are also making themselves felt in ever more individual orders. It is easiest for the window manufacturer if the customer chooses a profile and colour combination that is available and quickly accessible. It becomes more complex if the requested material has to be ordered or if it is only possible to determine whether it is still available in the warehouse by re-stacking and sorting. If the requested profile is then still in an external warehouse, the material can only be processed after a warm-up period, which may depend on the season.
